We invite you to join us for the Big Picnic Weekend, our annual fundraiser for Stern Grove Festival, now a 2-day affair in 2024! Your generous gift will benefit thousands of Bay Area residents who will experience world-class performances, completely free, at Stern Grove Festival. We cannot be more excited for Saturday's performances by Sylvan Esso and Poolside!
New this year, guests will have several different ways to support the Festival with customized VIP experiences as outlined below. You will be able to make your selections from the "Buy a Table" page.

Sylvan Esso is an indie-electronic duo renowned for their captivating blend of catchy melodies, intricate beats, and soulful vocals. Consisting of singer Amelia Meath and producer Nick Sanborn, the duo seamlessly merges folk-inspired lyricism with pulsating electronic rhythms, creating a sound that is both infectious and thought-provoking. Their music often explores themes of intimacy, identity, and human connection, offering listeners a dynamic sonic journey filled with rich textures and evocative storytelling. POOLSIDE
Poolside is the recording project of producer, songwriter and multi-instrumentalist Jeffrey Paradise. In 2011 Poolside set out to produce appropriately chill music for summer soirees, a light but danceable kind of music with sunny vibes and liquid rhythm that he dubbed "Daytime Disco." Since then, Poolside has released four acclaimed albums – Pacific Standard Time (2012), Heat (2017), Low Season (2020) and Blame It All On Love (2023) – remixed countless high-profile acts such as Billy Idol, Jack Johnson & Milky Chance, DRAMA, Miami Horror, L'impératrice, Purple Disco Machine, Big Wild and more. Poolside has also recently collaborated with Mindchatter, Jim James (My Morning Jacket), Todd Edwards, NEIL FRANCES, Brijean and Buscabulla. Poolside’s live band has supported Kacey Musgraves, Earth, Wind & Fire and Tycho along with performing at major music festivals including Coachella, Primavera, Outside Lands, Lollapalooza and Corona Capital. Poolside’s cover of Neil Young’s classic “Harvest Moon” - which they made a one-of-a-kind 12-inch just for James Murphy (LCD Soundsystem) and halted the pressing of the album to include in on their debut album Pacific Standard Time – has been streamed over 107M times.
Q: What’s included?
A: A picnic table that seats 10 guests (children are included in total group count). Reserved parking is also included with this 100% tax deductible donation, and includes three parking spaces. All donations for seat benefits are non-refundable, as all proceeds directly support the Festival.
Q: What time should I arrive?
A: The VIP Check-In opens at 12:00 noon and closes at 3pm. Your picnic table number will be given to you at Check-In. The concert begins at 2pm and typically ends around 4:30pm.
Q: Will you be sending tickets in the mail?
A: No, tickets will not be sent in advance. You will be contacted leading up to the concert date to confirm your attendance and you will be asked for your guest's names. This email will also include important details and arrival instructions. On the day of the concert, there is a VIP Check-in to obtain guest credentials and your table assignment.
Q: Food and beverage provided?
A: Food and beverages are only included in the Premier Table package ($2,500), otherwise please plan to bring a picnic (alcoholic beverages are permitted) for your table or purchase food from on-site concession options.
Q: How do I reserve my table if I have already donated $1,500 or above?
A: Donations beginning October 1,2022 can count towards the 2023 concert season. Email rsvp@sterngrove.org, or call 415-625-6006 and we will be happy to reserve your table for the concert of your choice. Do not delay, as concerts will sell out.
Q: Can I split my seats between multiple concerts?
A: No, your donation entitles you to a picnic table good for one concert.
Q: Can I reserve half a table?
A: Prompted by concerns for safety in 2021, we no longer have the option for half table reservations.
Q: Are the picnic tables ADA accessible?
A: Yes! A limited number of tables are accessible, please email us to make accommodations for your visit to the Grove.
Q: What can I bring?
A: You are welcome to bring a picnic. Alcoholic beverages are permitted. Please plan to keep the park beautiful and pack out what you bring in. There will be a security check that will confiscate knives with a blade longer than 4 inches. There is also limited space available for extra items such as strollers and non-foldable wagons so please avoid bringing these items.
Q: What should I do if the concert picnic tables appear to be sold out?
A: Some tables may be released closer to the concert date. We recommend you reach out to us to be placed on a waitlist and we will contact you if tables become available. Please email rsvp@sterngrove.org or 415-625-6006.
